On Wednesday the Leopold Hotel Oudenaarde held their official opening celebration. Attended by the Mayor, local dignitaries, business owners, guests and colleagues it was a wonderful evening to showcase the property.
The Leopold Hotel Oudenaarde is PREM Group’s 13th hotel in Belgium and joins our current portfolio of 36 properties in Ireland, Belgium, England and France. The hotel has created 20 new jobs and as we get busier that number will increase.
When we look at a location for a hotel, we like to see a good mix of both leisure and corporate business in the immediate area. Oudenaarde ticks the box on both those fronts: on the leisure side with cycling tourism, the world famous Tour de Flanders and of course the beautiful Golf & Country Club Oudenaard. But we also have very strong corporate demand from companies such as Samsonite, ON Semiconductors, Cortina and so many more.
Oudenaarde is a wonderful city but sometimes overshadowed by Gent and Kortrijk, we plan for the Leopold Hotel to draw guests back, for the benefit of all in Oudenaarde. The hotel offers luxury boutique accommodation in a superb location. While we offer food and beverage facilities they are not extensive and we will encourage guests to enjoy the great local bars and restaurants.
I would like to thank all those that have worked so hard to make this hotel happen, especially Kathleen Spriet and Bart Vanderdonckt from Steenoven who brought the project to our attention and Johan Hemelrijck from Alheembouw as well as the project manager on site, Alain Beddeleem. Also special thanks to Patrick De Peuter who made us enthusiastic about this project. Projects like this are never easy, sometimes people’s patience is tested, but things usually work out in the end. So despite all the stress along the way, the finished product is something that all of us who were involved can be very proud.
